Ninety years after the opening of the Dessau Bauhaus, "Big Plans! Modern Types, Fantasists and Inventors" shows for the first time that the Bauhaus, as a forum for international avant-gardes, was not a solitary institution, but rather part of a great utopia of modernity. From 1919 to 1933, an industrial region of the future grew up in Central Germany, which was closely linked to visionary and ideal plans for a new image of humanity, implemented in architecture, education, advertising and even space. Starting from the Bauhaus, the exhibition opens up correspondence with Magdeburg, Halle (Saale), Leuna, Merseburg, Wolfen and Elbingerorde. The exciting accompanying book opens up a glimpse into a highly active field of dynamic intellectual expeditions by actors such as Gropius, Schawinsky, Taut and Deffke.
