Kitchen Towel . VAN DER MIJL DEKKER . White/blue/yellow
The beautiful tea towel was created in 1939 and is more of a statement. The choice of color and weave breaks with the previous convention of red and blue diced kitchen fabrics.
Kitty van der Mijll-Dekker was a student at the Bauhaus from 1929 and graduated in 1932. Back in Amsterdam, she herself became one of the most influential teachers of textile design in the Netherlands.
In retrospect, the weaving class is certainly one of the most influential workshops of the Bauhaus - it was the most economically successful anyway.
The original The design can still be seen today in the collection of the TextielMuseum in Tilburg, the Netherlands. The new edition will also be woven there. A Bauhaus original for everyday use.
