Rug . WANDBEHANG 1926 . Anni Albers
Anni Albers, one of the most influential textile artists of the 20th century, began her career at the Bauhaus, where - as a woman prevented from studying other disciplines - she began weaving under the tutelage of Gunta Stölzl. This sparked a lifelong passion for the tactile and aesthetic possibilities of textiles and led her to the United States, where she became the first textile artist to be honored with an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art - and the most famous weaver of the modern era.
